|Minigolf Open Championship to be held in Essex
The Cambridgeshire and Essex Mini Golf Club will be hosting their first-ever Open Tournament on Saturday 10th October as the Dunton Hills Family Golf Centre in West Horndon, near Brentwood, welcomes over 25 professional players from the British Minigolf Association Tour.
The Cambridgeshire and Essex Open championship will be a three-round tournament played on the 18-hole Miniature Golf course at Dunton Hills. Play will tee-off at 1pm, with the course open for practice in the morning. Local people interested in playing in the competition can enter at the course before midday.
Mark Wood of the Cambridgeshire and Essex Mini Golf Club said "We're really looking forward to holding our first big minigolf Open event at Dunton Hills. We've had a great welcome from the team at the course and we've got a very competitive field eager to test themselves on one of the longest minigolf courses in the country."

The CEMGC have organised three Invitational contests at the course, with the CEMGC's Emily Gottfried winning the first contest in December 2014, while Richard Gottfried of the Midlands Minigolf Club won the next event in February of this year. The Sussex Wasps Minigolf Club Captain Steve Lovell won the most recent competition at the venue in August.
The CEMGC players compete in a number of tournaments throughout the year and were formed following a merger of the Cambridge Mini Golf Club and Team Essex in 2014. The club achieved a podium finish in this year's BMGA British Club Championship – finishing third in the UK's national team event.
The Cambridgeshire and Essex Open championship will be the final competition for players before the annual World Crazy Golf Championships are held in Hastings at the end of the month. The 2009 World Champion, and CEMGC player, Keith Kellard will be competing in the CEMGC Open.
