New AMF board elected and 2010 Asian Open Minigolf Championships update


The Asia Minigolf Sport Federation elected a new board at the AMF Delegates meeting that took place in Odense, Denmark on the 18th August 2009.

The newly elected members of the AMF Board are:
  • CHUNG Yun Yang (Spring), China, AMF President
  • GERSTNER Bruno, China, Secretary General
  • HUANG Wen-Chen, Taiwan, Media Manager
  • SAVARE André, Thailand, Finance Manager
  • KOSHIMURA Yuki, Japan, Sport Director
The AMF has seven member countries, they are:
  • China
  • India
  • Iran
  • Japan
  • Singapore
  • R.O.C. (Taiwan)
  • Thailand
The emerging minigolf market of China, the newest full member of the World Minigolf Sport Federation, had two members elected to the AMF Board.

The 2010 Asian Open Minigolf Championships was awarded to China and will take place on the 5th to the 7th November 2010 in Kunming, south-western China. The tournament will be played on a Minigolf Open Standard (MOS) course for the first time.

At the recent World Minigolf Championships in Odense China provided a men's and a women's team - with a total of nine players - that finished the tournament in 11th and 9th places in their respective divisions. This was a significant improvement on their single entry in the 2007 World Minigolf Championships. Japan also entered a women's team which finished the Championships in 8th place.

Four of the seven member nations of the AMF are listed in the latest Minigolf Nations Rankings (published November 2009), details below (previous positions in parenthesis):
  • 18. (17.) Japan
  • 22. (27.) R.O.C. (Taiwan)
  • 25. (29) China
  • 26. (28.) Thailand
